solitaire Cut is the Most prominent Factor to reconsider When Buying a solitaire - Find Out Why

The techniques of diamond cutting have not changed much in over 500 years. It still begins with considered studying the diamond and observing the way it handles light. A diamond is the hardest substance known to man and because of this only a diamond can cut someone else diamond. Two stones are used to shape each other, a original stone and a secondary stone. Even the milling wheels used to polish a stone are diamond encrusted.

The cut of a diamond is generally considered by most experts to be the most important of the 4 C's. The 4 C's refer to the cut, clarity, color, and carat weight and are the factors used to assign value to a singular stone. Let's take a closer look at the cut to understand why it is so important. When citizen refer to a round cut or a princess cut diamond what they are talking about is the shape. The cut should not be confused with a diamond's shape. The cut refers to the potential of the proportioning, symmetry, and polish which affects the way light enters the diamond, is refracted within the diamond, and how it exits the diamond. The cut gives it its fire and brilliance.

Diamond

When a diamond is cut perfectly, light enters in through the top of the diamond and then exits back out through the top of the diamond giving a maximum brilliance. If it is cut too deeply or too shallow some of the light will leak out on the sides or the lowest of the stone causing it to be less brilliant. Experts consider cut to be the most valuable of the 4 C's because the brilliance of a stone is what gives it its charm and many experts would tell you that a perfectly cut, great stone will allow you to compromise on some other areas and still have a gorgeous and valuable diamond but if the cut is bad and the diamond does not have that fire, the color, clarity, and carat size plainly won't matter much. Never compromise on the cut.
